We’re going to have to keep this one short and sweet today as I am a bit busy, but didn’t wanna fall completely off the tracks within my first week of blogging, so of course here is the song of the day for Sunday.
This one has more of a rockish vibe to it as it is a song written by the Boss himself, Mr. Bruce Springsteen. The tune that we will recognize today is “The River.” Not be confused with his whole album, just the single track coming in at spot number 11 on his album also entitled “The River.”
This song starts off a little slower and then ramps up a little especially towards the last minute and a half of the song. Springsteen croons out the touching lyrics of young love that are now haunting him. One of my personal favorite lines from this song is “Is a dream a lie if it don’t come true or is it something worse?” That line comes to me most often I’d say along with the stretch of music from 0.32-0.40. I respect this song and will hopefully always enjoy it. Alas I could write about this song forever however this is all I have time for today. Take a listen to this song if you get the chance, you won’t regret it!
For your ease of listening to it…
Today is now the first glorious day of the weekend: Saturday!
To give your Saturday a smooth and sexy tune, I’d say give “One For The Road” a listen by Arctic Monkeys. This song registers as track number 3 on their latest album “AM.” “One For The Road” is one of those tunes that never really gets old. It has a certain air about it that’s filled with confidence and swagger, but in a good way of course. It makes you feel mysterious and more confident yourself while listening to it. It has a sultriness to it that you just can’t stop listening to. Alex Turner’s vocals in this song will make you have a little swagger in your step all while making you swoon at the same time. Turner is the master of coming up with unique lyrics as seen here…
“The mixture hits you hard
Don’t get that sinking feeling, don’t fall apart
Some out of tune guitar
Soundtrack to disaster.”
Not only will the vocals overwhelm you in this song, but the rockin’ guitar solo that occurs right after these lyrics in particular will knock you off your seat. The pairing of Mr. Turner’s vocals with his genius work on the electric will have you hitting replay nonstop. In the end this song will have you picturing either yourself or someone else (Alex Turner perhaps?) casually leaning against a wall outside at night wearing a leather jacket with a cigarette twisting between their fingers, much unlike what the music video portrays with the whole tractor scene. However, even though a tractor does somewhat randomly appear in the “One For The Road” music video, it along with the rest of the music video still manages to give you that undeniable feeling of wanting to listen to this song on repeat. I hope you take the opportunity to listen to this gem of a song.
Here it is…
For my first song of the day post, I thought I would throw it back a little to Muse’s fourth album which came out in 2004. Keeping with the four theme here I’ve decided to let Muse’s fourth track on this album have the honor of being featured in my first song of the day post. That’s right, “Sing For Absolution,” has taken this spot. With lyrics like this how could it not hold this title?
“Tiptoe to your room
A starlight in the gloom
I only dream of you
And you never knew.”
I’ve only recently listened to this track to be quite honest. I just never made the time for it. I have of course listened to the album “Absolution,” however when this track would roll around I never listened to it. However, I did manage to give it 4 minutes and 55 seconds of my time just the other day and boy am I glad I did. With Matthew Bellamy at the helm of it all in this song, how could I not? This song has a bit of an erie side to it, but once Bellamy belts into the chorus of “sing for absolution” you will get hooked. His charming vocals will suck you in every time. So please, learn from my mistakes of putting this song off and recognize it for what it truly is: a grand song.
For your pleasure and ease of listening to it…
Hi all. Welcome to my new favourite project. I created this blog in order to share my love of music, typically indie, alternative, and most forms of rock, with the world. All of the bands and artists that I write about I feel deserve a great deal of appreciation. This was just one of the ways I figured I could do that. I also wanted to help expose people to these different artists and bands. They desperately need to be shared with the world. Whether you already had the pleasure of knowing these artists and bands or not, I hope this blog satisfies you and makes you appreciate them even more. Many bands and artists will be featured more than once as I hope to delve into specifics when it comes to some of these musical geniuses. Along with this will be songs to check out and a deeper analysis of lyrics and of course the typical rating of songs, albums, and bands. This will be the best of the best people. I sincerely hope you enjoy this and get something out of it, as I will greatly enjoy my time coming up with these posts.
